Video war between JDU, RJD over old clips on Nitish Kumar

A day after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) released an old video showing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar apologising to former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, the Janata Dal (United) on Saturday released five old clips, which showed RJD leaders Tejashwi Yadav and his father Lalu Yadav praising and siding with Nitish Kumar.
Earlier on Friday, Bihar RJD chief Jagadanand Singh released a 2022 video showing Nitish Kumar greeting Rabri Devi with folded hands, further fueling the controversy surrounding the Chief Minister’s past political flip-flops.
In response to the RJD’s action, the JD(U) released five clips—three showing Tejashwi Yadav making statements about Nitish Kumar and two videos of Lalu Yadav speaking about the Chief Minister.
Slamming the RJD for releasing the video of Nitish Kumar and Rabri Devi, JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar said, “The RJD does not talk about issues. Instead, it plays the game of tweets and videos.”
Neeraj Kumar also released two videos showing Tejashwi Yadav acknowledging that Nitish Kumar gave him the opportunity to work when he was the former Deputy Chief Minister.
“Nitish Kumar is not someone who just talks. He is a leader who acts. The RJD does not have audio for their video. We, on the other hand, have released the video along with the audio,” Neeraj Kumar added.
“We respect the state president of the RJD, Jagadanand Singh, but yesterday, we understood the game of his family-driven politics. Where is the audio of the video that was released yesterday? Release the audio as well. The RJD has also put Rabri Devi in the dock,” he continued.
Meanwhile, JD(U) leader and Bihar minister Ashok Chaudhary released three videos and stated, “In these videos, Lalu Yadav acknowledged that Nitish Kumar played an instrumental role in the early stages of his political career. Tejashwi Yadav, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to Nitish Kumar while addressing newly recruited teachers at the sprawling Gandhi Maidan in Patna.”
On Friday, Jagadanand Singh asserted that Nitish Kumar no longer has credibility in politics and accused him of dishonesty.
“Nitish Kumar has repeatedly sworn oaths to forge alliances but has never upheld them. He has constantly shifted alliances to cling to power for his own political gains,” he said.
In 2013, Nitish Kumar broke ties with the BJP and joined hands with the RJD for the first time. He returned to the NDA in 2017, then left the NDA again in 2022 to join the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan before rejoining the NDA this year after 18 months.
Both Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav have ruled out their parties becoming part of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar in the near future.
